• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If a direct update message appears, and then the network
  disappears, the user will not be able to perform a direct update
  even after the network comes back.
  

Local fix

• Once network connectivity has been restored, exit the
  application and then restart it.

Problem conclusion

• The code was fixed so that reloading the application works
  correctly.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for fixpack 5.0.6.2.
