APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A Gateway daemon configured to use the dropworking and
idletimeout parameters might not free ConnectionManager threads
and IPIC sessions when a client connection is timed out. The
value of the ECI timeout parameter does not affect the release
    of the resources.

Local fix

  • Remove the dropworking parameter to prevent the purge of in-use
    connections

    ****************************************************************
When using XA or extended mode ECI requests a client connection
that times-out might prevent ConnectionManager threads and IPIC
    sessions from being released.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS TG has been corrected to free the ConnectionManager thread
and associated IPIC session when an in-use client connection
has timed out and the dropworking parameter is specified on a
    protocol handler definition.
