Error description

  • You are not prevented from performing an mklabel operation in
the IBM Rational ClearCase/Cadence Integration when the label
    type does not exist.

You will see an error similar to:

    ct mklabel -recurse FOO1 .
cleartool: Error: label type 'FOO1' not found in VOB '\test' and
no global type definition can be found.
cleartool: Error: Unable to create label 'FOO1' on '.' version
    '\main\1'.
cleartool: Error: Unable to create label 'FOO1' on '.\dir1'
    version '\main\1'.

    WORKAROUND:

Confirm that the label type exists in the vob by running the
    cleartool lstype lbtype:label_name:

    M:\vu2\test?ct lstype lbtype:FOO1
cleartool: Error: Label type not found: 'FOO1'.

Create the label type first using the cleartool mklbtype command

    M:\vu2\test?ct mklbtype -nc FOO1
    Created label type 'FOO1'.

    ****************************************************************
In the Rational ClearCase integration with Cadence Design
Framework II, attempting to apply a label for which the
ClearCase label type was not defined would generate an
error, rather than creating the label type in the
    appropriate VOB(s).

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed in ClearCase 8.0.0.9 and 8.0.1.2.
