Error description
Environment: - Microsoft Windows - Product: Rational Software Architect for Websphere Software 8.5.1 Reproducible: Y Description of problem: When you import an XMI model, the import process aborts with the following message: 'An unknown exception occured during the import'. The problem seems to be caused by messages that have a receiveEvent which is covered by an attribute of some class which may not be valid UML. Nevertheless, it should not result in an exception completely preventing the import and not giving any reason for such a failure (the .log file doesn't contain anything relevant). Also, the exception only happens when it is the receiveEvent, not if it is the sendEvent. Workaround You need to comment out the lines of the XMI file that are causing the problem. Of course, it can be really tricky to find which one they are.

Problem conclusion
Provided a solution that catches any exception and reports what could not be imported so that import runs gracefully.
