APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When dumping an IBM Rational ClearCase Versioned Object Base
  (VOB) database as part of:
  1) ClearCase MultiSite replica creation;
  2) moving the VOB to host running a different processor
  architecture;
  3) a maintenance operation;
  the dumper may fail with an out of memory error.
  
  At this time, the issue appears to be related to large directory
  checkin comments and a cache management issue in ClearCase.
  During the database dump operation, the dumper may use
  inordinate amounts of virtual memory, eventually exceeding the
  4GB allowed for 32-bit user processes.
  
  This issue is extremely rare, and the only known workaround is
  to perform the dump on a ClearCase 7.0.1.x host as the out of
  memory issue does not occur on ClearCase 7.0.1.1-IFIX01.
