PM81722: WMQ FOR Z/OS 7.1 : ABN=0C4-00000010 AT LOC=CSQMLPLM.CSQMFDSC+000002D2 AFTER MIGRATING TO MQ V7.1

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After migrating to MQ v7.1 (from MQ v6.0) they found that
  their queue manager abended on it's initial startup, prior to
  receiving the
  'CSQ9022I K1 CSQYASCP 'START QMGR' NORMAL COMPLETION' message.
  
  The abend received was :
  .
  ABN=0C4-00000010,U=SYSOPR  ,C=R3600.710.MMC -
  CSQMFDSC,M=CSQGFRCV,LOC=CSQMLPLM.CSQMFDSC+000002D2
  
  The customer established that this was caused by them specifying
  an ALTER QMGR PSCLUS(DISABLED) command in CSQINP2. If they
  remove this and command then the queue manager starts ok.
  

Local fix

• Don't issue an ALTER QMGR PSCLUS(DISABLED) command in CSQINP2

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  The problem can occur when the cluster cache has not
  initialised, as the chinit has not been started.  CSQMCAMM
  routine Check_Clus_Topics calls CSQMFDSC to disconnect the cache
  with an unitialised phcache - regardless of whether the chinit
  is available.
  
  If the phcache pointer has residual data an abend 0C4 may occur.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code has been changed to initialise the phcache pointer
  before calling Check_Clus_Topics and not to call CSQMFDSC if the
  chinit is unavailable.
