In regular search ,both ? and ? is ok. All above are tested on 7.5.1.2 server. But on my local machine, both FF10 and IE8 have the problem.
Problem conclusion
On WAS, I use encodeURIComponet() function to make sure the search input text has been encoded. Then it works on WAS.But tomcat fails. So we should specify the URIEncoding to UTF-8 in tomcat server.xml like: ?Connector connectionTimeout="20000" port="8080" protocol="HTTP/1.1" redirectPort="8443" URIEncoding="UTF-8"/?
