Error description

  • Value of short string fields with Drop-down list box control
could not be emptied when using the backspace of keyboard
instead of the mouse on CQWeb.

    Steps to reproduce:
1- Create a new Short string field; name it: 'Text' on record
    Defect on the DefectTracking schema.
2- Add Constant list values to the field.
3- Update the record form adding the new filed as a Drop-down
    list box control.
4- Check schema in and upgrade database.
5- Log in CQWeb, submit or modify a record, depends on the form
    that was updated.
6- Select a value in the field 'Text' and save record.
7- Modify same record and delete the selected value in the field
'Text' using backspace on keyboard not the mouse to drop down
    the list.
As there is no blank line in the list of values, you will be
prompted with warning: 'The value entered is not valid'. Click
OK and save, the deleted value still exists.
If you have a blank line in the list of values, no warning is
prompted and same behavior, i.e. saving the record the deleted
    value still exists.

This is not the same behavior in CQWeb pre v. 8.0.0.x and on CQ
Windows client. Emptied value with the keyboard is saved
    correctly.
Reproduced on CQ 8.0.0.3 both browsers; IE and FF.

    Attached is set of dbs ready with the field 'Text' to reproduce;
    DB.zip

ClearQuest Web short string fields with drop-down list box
controls can not be made blank when using your keyboard's
backspace key rather than your mouse. If the field has been
made blank and is not in the list of values, you will be
prompted with warning: "The value entered is not valid".
After Clicking "OK" and "Save", the value which was deleted
    still exists.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available in ClearQuest 8.0.0.5.

Clearing ClearQuest Web short string fields in drop-down
list box now has consistent behavior when using both a mouse
and a keyboard. If the field has been made blank via a
backspace, clicking "Save" successfully removes the deleted
value. This makes it consistent with ClearQuest Web
    7.1.2.x.
