• Abstract:
  
  A new feature introduced in Rational Application Developer
  v8.0.4 for WebSphere JAX-WS Code Generation to 'Manage generated
  code for multiple schema versions' is not documented.
  
  Problem:
  
  The functionality for the new JAX-WS code generation feature
  'Manage generated code for multiple schema versions' is not
  documented.  This feature, implemented to handle multiple Web
  Service WSDL/schema versions, can be enabled in the workspace
  preferences:
  
  Window ? Preferences ? Web Services ? WebSphere ? JAX-WS Code
  Generation:
  [x]  Manage generated code for multiple schema versions.
  
  and is intended for use in top-down and Client JAX-WS generation
  from a WSDL situations.
  
  The Information Center item:

  Preference Background:
  
  - You can can generate a JAX-WS service or client from a WSDL
  where the WSDL can import other schemas. The schemas can change
  and they can be versioned as minor or major updates, and then
  the service needs to be regenerated again.
  This new enhancement provides the capability to regenerate code
  into the same target source folder.  Because of this, the JAX-WS
  web services tools needed a way to 'manage' the versions of the
  schemas and generate new code (say, for major changes) or reuse
  existing code (say, for minor changes) so the service will still
  work properly. The way to resolve this was to append the version
  number to the end of the java package. A packageversions.xml
  properties file is also generated in the project target source
  folder.
