APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In IBM Rational ClearCase 7.1.2.0, a product defect (APAR
  PK95364) was addressed to allow upgrade of ClearCase in Oracle
  Solaris Global Zone without having to uninstall ClearCase from
  all Non-Global Zones prior to the upgrade. You may see a
  regression of this defect when attempting to upgrade to
  ClearCase 7.1.2.7 in the Global Zone. The following error will
  be seen:
  
  ClearCase MVFS must be uninstalled from every Non-Global Zone if
  it is uninstalled from the Global Zone
  
  Workaround:
  
  The only known workaround at this time is to uninstall ClearCase
  from all Non-Global Zones prior to upgrading ClearCase in the
  Global Zone. ClearCase may then be reinstalled at the new
  version in each Non-Global Zone.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Non-global zone installations of ClearCase with MVFS installed
  prevent global zone from being upgraded

  To Reproduce, all on the same Solaris 10 system:
  
  1)  Install ClearCase 7.1.2 Full Installation on the global zone
  
  2)  Install ClearCase 7.1.2 Full Installation on the non-global
  zone
  
  3)  Stop ClearCase on the non-global zone
  
  4)  From the global zone, now attempt to upgrade to 7.1.2.8:
  The following error will be seen:
  
  ClearCase MVFS must be uninstalled from every Non-Global Zone if
  it is uninstalled from the Global Zone
  
  Workaround:  Uninstall ClearCase from every non-global zone
  before upgrading the global zone.  Once the global zone is
  upgraded, you may reinstall ClearCase on the non-global zones.
