PM66955: DMH5412W NOT DISPLAYED WHEN MAXITERATIONS LIMIT REACHED IN DEAD CODE VIEWING OR CONTROL FLOW DIAGRAM RENDERING

Error description

When the number of iterations specified by the maxIterations
parameter in the ControlFlow section of the Common.cfg file is
reached during View Dead code or Control Flow diagram
processing, the DMH5412W should be displayed to the user.
However, it is not being displayed, and the user therefore has
no way to know that the Control Flow diagram or code that is
marked as dead (unused) code is not correct unless they notice
that some code is missing, such as COBOL paragraphs, in the
diagram, or that some code in the Dead Code view is marked
(highlighted) as being dead when it is not.

Local fix

raise maxIterations in ControlFlow section of Common.cfg to a
higher value, up to 1000000.

Problem summary

Checking wasn't done for exceeding maxIterations during control
flow diagram processing.

Problem conclusion

After control flow diagram is generated, check its returnCode -
if excessive iterations were used, report to UI and show what
part of the graph has been completed.
