Error description

  • Reports created in BIA/CWA or RS that take a second or two to
    run against a sparse PowerCube take upwards of 10 mins or fail
    to return when zero suppression is enabled. This same report in
    PowerPlay Studio takes a few seconds.??Customer is a long time
    user of PP Web, with many business users who frequently leverage
    the zero suppression functionality in PP Web.  They have
    upgraded to Cognos 10, and are now seeing performance issues
    when attempting to recreate their reports in Business Insight
    Advanced, some times so severe that the reports fail to return.
    An analysis that would return in a few seconds in PP Web is now
    not returning in BIA after 10 minutes of running.  ??These are
    business users creating these reports, and advanced MDX
    authoring techniques are not sufficient for them to be able to
    adequately perform their day to day activities.  Furthermore,
    their data cubes are sparse to handle the business questions
    they need, and the end reports are not meaningful without
    removing the zeros.  A simple mechanism, like in PP Web is
    necessary in order for them to get value from the system.
