APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • An "Ambiguous reference" warning icon appears next to EXEC SQL
statements when editing a COBOL or PL/I source containing EXEC
SQL DECLARE TABLE statements if the "Validate database
references" preference is enabled (Window > Preferences > Data
Management > SQL Development > EXEC SQL Statements).

Local fix

  • n/a

Problem summary

  • The real-time syntax check phase for "Validate database
references" on SQL statements can sometimes miss references to
tables declared within the compilation unit using EXEC SQL
DECLARE TABLE statements. This can result in unexpected
"Ambiguous reference" or "Unresolved reference" warnings within
    EXEC SQL statements.

Problem conclusion

  • References to tables declared within the compilation unit using
EXEC SQL DECLARE TABLE statements can sometimes be left out of
the database symbol table, resulting in unexpected "Ambiguous
reference" or "Unresolved reference" warnings within EXEC SQL
statements. The database reference validation needs to correct
the finding of DECLARE TABLE references.
