Error description

  • APAR Error Description:
Abstract: Installation Manager does not display packages
available to install from Passport Advantage
Problem: After initially configuring Installation Manager to
connect to Passport Advantage under File ? Preferences,
Installation Manager will show the packages available to install
from Passport Advantage. However, subsequent attempts to view
the packages (for example, you Cancel your install and choose to
Install again or you exit Installation Manager and reopen) will
show there are no packages available to install. Installation
Manager will show available packages to install only after the
first time 'Connect to Passport Advantage' is selected and the
    credentials are entered.

    Local fix:
    1) Select File ? Preferences ? Passport Advantage.
    2) Select 'Clear credentials'. Uncheck the 'Connect to Passport
    Advantage' option. Select OK.
    3) Close Installation Manager.
    4) Reopen Installation Manager.
    7) Go to File ? Preferences ? Passport Advantage.
    8) Check mark the 'Connect to Passport Advantage' option. Enter
    your credentials. Select OK.
    9) Select the Install button.

RESULT: You can see the packages available to install.

Note: If you cancel your Install, and select Install again, you
will no longer be able to see the packages available to install
and will need to run the above steps again.

Code in agent was adding the passport advantage repository
as a "Iwm" type repository when "CompositeRepository" type
is always returned from CWA. This resulted in the repository
being removed before being shown to the user.

Problem conclusion

  • Changed the repository type to "CompositeRepository" solving
this issue in IBM Installation Manager 1.5.3 and above.
