  The problem reported is that ls -al is not returning proper
  information when accessing a directory using a view extended
  name.
  

Problem conclusion

• The customer is trying to access files in a non-ClearCase
  directory using view-extended names.  This use case is not
  supported in ClearCase on Linux because of limitations in
  the internal Linux kernel interfaces.
