• When following the documented steps to extend a package using
  external data
  (http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cbi/v10r1m1/topic/com.

  ersdat)
  in which the package name contains square brackets ([ or ]), the
  following error is produced:?IBM Cognos Report Studio?The latest
  package information could not be loaded.  The package this
  report is referencing may no longer exist.??Package metadata is
  required for proper operation of the user interface.?Certain
  elements of the report definition may not be viewable or
  editable.
  

Local fix

• Change square brackets to round brackets.  E.g. instead of using
   [CUBE], use (CUBE) in the package name.
