Error description

• When building software using clearmake in an IBM Rational
  ClearCase dynamic view, the 'Unable to place marker in MVFS
  audit - Invalid argument' error may occur if all of the
  following are true:
  
  1) The makefile itself is a symlink to a central skeleton
  makefile that '#includes' a destination-directory resident file
  that contains the actual build instructions.
  2) The top-level target is a .NO_CONFIG_REC target.
  3) This target does not write any files, but starts a child make
  in a subdirectory of the current directory
  4) The child make builds 'normal' DO targets.
  5) The build is started with 'clearmake -u' for unconditional
  rebuild.

  When using IBM Rational ClearCase's makefile based build
  utility Clearmake, it throws "clearmake: Error: Unable to
  place marker in MVFS audit - Invalid argument" error for the
  recursive builds where parent make is invoked with
  .NO_CONFIG_REC target and there is no fresh build happening
  in the child make.  This behaviour is seen in  ClearCase
  7.1.2.7 or 8.0.0.3 or prior versions.
  

Problem conclusion

• A fix is available in ClearCase versions 7.1.2.8 and 8.0.0.4
