Error description

  • Abstract:

Attempts to use the parameter 'Allow vendor extensions' option
in Rational Application Developer v8.0.x doesn't work as
expected and the generated code doesn't respect this option.

    Problem:

'Allow vendor extensions' is an option that exists for the
JAX-WS web service tool wizard in Rational Application Developer
v8.0.x. This option specifies whether to accept custom
extensions for functionality that are not specified by the
JAX-WS specification. As a result the customer has no choice but
to make their WSDL fully compliance with WS-I BP specification,
if they want to generate Web Service classes from a WSDL through
    Rational Application Developer v8.0.x.

    Local fix:

You may use the '-extension' parameter through the 'wsimport'
utility in command line since 'wsimport' provides this option
and the generated codes respect this option. The wsimport tool
can be run from the [WebSphere Application Server installation
    directory]/bin/ directory.

The -extension attribute was not added to the wsimport
command for top down java when the "Allow vendor extensions"
    checkbox is checked.

Problem conclusion

  • The -extension attribute is now being added to the
underlying wsimport command. The fix for this APAR is
included in Rational Application Developer v8.0.4.1.
