Error description

  • Heap analysis shows that com.ibm.etools.remote.search.miners.ind
    exers.IndexerThread was left in the heap and the indexer threads
    were running forever, using a lot of CPU.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All Remote Index Srach users.                *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a connection is terminated prior   *
    *                      to an index generation request being    *
    *                      completed, the host thread which is     *
    *                      generating the index continues to run   *
    *                      to completion, consuming memory and     *
    *                      cpu.                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The miners which generate the indexing threads which are used
    during index generation, do not terminate the threads when the
    miner is terminated.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The miners that create remote index search threads will properly
    clean up these thread as soon as possible when a reqest to to
    finish the miner is received.
