• Environment:
  RFT 8.2.1.1
  Win XP Sp3.
  
  Problem Description:
  If a web page has an encoded character such as ?nbsp;, RFT is
  stripping the character out.For example, the text
  '?nbsp;Testing' would be read as 'Testing' by RFT as of RFT
  8.2.1, but in previous releases this would show as ' Testing'

  Attempts to record a script in IBM Rational Functional
  Tester (RFT) results in the "?nbsp;" character being
  stripped from object maps and verification points.
  

Problem conclusion

• Beginning in RFT 8.2.1.1, HTML encoded characters are
  removed from the leading and trailing spaces (such as
  removing "?nbsp;" from the beginning of the text property).
  
  This feature was added to suppress the compression of text.
  
  Resolving the problem
  
  If you have an existing test script or would like to record
  a new script which has the leading and trailing spaces, then
  you will need to make the following changes:
  
      Close RFT
  
      Navigate to ~SDP\FunctionalTester\bin
  
      Open ivory.properties
  
      Search for rational.test.ft.html.respectwidespace
  
      Set this property to true
      For example: rational.test.ft.html.respectwidespace =
  true
  
      Save the changes to the ivory.properties file
