• Abstract:
  
  Attempts to add the JUnit 3 library to the Java build path in
  Rational Application Developer 8.0.3 results in JUnit 4 being
  used instead.
  
  Problem:
  
  If you add JUnit 3 support to a project in Rational Application
  Developer 8.0.3 then you will see in the Project Explorer view
  that JUnit 4 is being used.
  
  
  Local fix:
  A restart of the product will result in the correct library
  being used.

  A custom classpath container initializer was introduced for
  the Rational Build Utility product in order to force always
  using a JUnit4 library in a headless environment(also in
  cases when JUnit3 tests are required to be launched). This
  custom initializer code is also affecting the Rational
  Application Developer JUnit V3 functionality.
  

Problem conclusion

• The custom classpath container initializer code has been
  moved out of Rational Application Developer in order to
  prevent this problem from happening. The code has been moved
  into a separate plugin for exclusive usage of the Rational
  Build Utility product. The fix for this APAR is included in
  Rational Application Developer v8.0.4.1.
