Error description

  • Abstract:
    
    A NullPointerException may occur when attempting to
    'Transferring files to IBM' as part of the feedback service.
    
    Problem:
    
    When Rational Application Developer encounters and error, the
    Problem Occurred screen appears.  This screen sends the error
    report to IBM and you may may receive an error when the report
    is submitted:
    
    An internal error occurred during: 'Transferring files to IBM'.
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    
    In the workspace .log file, the following exception will be
    visible:

    A very rare situation was found where the initialization of
    the product feedback service tries to reference an object
    which has not been initialized and causes the
    NullPointerException.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A null check has been added as part of initializing the
    product feedback service.
    
    The fix for this APAR is included in Rational Application
    Developer v8.0.4 iFix1.
