Error description

  • Modifying the mvfs_ctxt_atime_refresh within mvfs_tunables.c and
rebuilding the MVFS will not change the 3600 second value

    ClearCase 7.1.2.4, 7.1.2.x

RedHat 5 Update 3 and above
       2.6.18-128 SMP x86_64
       2.6.18-194.11.1 SMP x86_64

    To Reproduce:

From a VOB server, make a test VOB on Network Attached Storage.
Mount the VOB, set to a View and cd into the VOB and make a new
element: The element can be an executable script or a C program
file and should use any type manager other than whole copy.
Once the element has been created, please check in the element.
Verify that the checked in element version is within the
cleartext pool of the VOB: /usr/atria/etc/mvfsstorage ?element?

Now, from a Client system remote to the VOB server and accessing
the Network Attached Storage and was not apart of making the
    element:

    1) On a remote client, as root cd into
    /var/adm/atria/mvfs/mvfs_src

    2) make clean

    3) vi mvfs_tunables.c

    4) Modify the following line:

    From:
       int mvfs_ctxt_atime_refresh = 3600;

    To:
       int mvfs_ctxt_atime_refresh = 10;

    5) make

    6) make install

    7) /usr/atria/etc/clearcase stop

    8) /usr/atria/clearcase start

    9) Now, as a non-root user, mount the test VOB and set to a
    View

    10) Issue ?/usr/bin/stat ?element?? and note the values

    11) cat the element

    12) Issue ?/usr/bin/stat ?element?? and note that the atime
    changed

    13) Wait 2 minutes: Now, cat the element again

    14) Issue ?/usr/bin/stat ?element?? and verify that the atime
    has not changed

    15) Now, wait 15, 30, 45 minutes more (15 minute intervals) and
cat the element again: ?/usr/bin/stat ?element?? does not show
    an atime change.

    16) After one hour has elapsed, cat the element again. Issue
?/usr/bin/stat ?element?? and now the atime changed

    Workaround: None
