PM51981: VMM GET () API DOES NOT RETURN UID or PREFERREDLANGUAGE PROPERTY OF THE USER

Error description

Virtual member manager (VMM) get () API does
not return "uid" property of the user. In another case, users
are unable to change the preferredLanguage. Depending on the
scenario, they are getting:


 LDAP: error code 20 - Attribute Or Value Exists

 (when trying to change to the same value as the current value
in the LDAP)

Or,

 LDAP: error code 65 - Object Class Violation

 (when trying to change to a value different than the current
value in the LDAP.)

In Virtual Member Manager (VMM), if a VMM API is called to get
the properties of a distinguish name without specifying an
entity type, that is, without specifying if the distinguish
name specified is a user or a group, then the uid property
will not be returned by VMM even though the distinguish name
will belong to a user.
This happened because if entity type is not specified then by
default, VMM assumed distinguish name to be group and since
group does not support uid property, it was not returned by
VMM.

Problem conclusion

The fix involved checking the input distinguish name for all
the configured entity types (user, group etc) and then fetching
the properties from LDAP accordingly.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.43, 7.0.0.23, and 8.0.0.3.  Please refer to the
