PM49112: UNABLE TO USE ALERTS FEATURE IF NO EMAIL ADDRESS IS SPECIFIED IN PREFERENCES

Error description

  • In Cognos 10.1.1 if there is already an email address associated
    with a user account and there is no email address specified
    under My Preferences->Personal, under "Alerts", the user sees a
    red x in the portal when trying to set up an alert for a report.
    In 8.4.1 this was not an issue and worked fine.????Page 328 of
    the Admin and sec guide states:             ??
                                  ??"Use to specify an email address
    for alerts.      ??When the delivery service processes the alert
       ??list, it uses the email address specified in the ??Email
    box to send alerts to the user. If there   ??is no email address
    specified, the email         ??address specified in the Primary
    logon           ??section is used."????Based on this
    documentation, not specifying an email address under "Alerts" in
    my preferences should still be ok if there is an email address
    associated with the account. This is also contrary to the
    behaviour seen in 8.4.1 where this is not an issue.
