Error description

  • If a Dynamic Web Project with the Server Side Technology Facet
is published to a WebSphere Application Server version 6.1 or
7.0 that only has the Web 2.0 Feature Pack version 1.0.x.x or
only has Web 2.0 Feature Pack version 1.1.0 then a publishing
failure will occurs. A runtime error such as the following may
    occur:

    [11/07/07 15:57:36:984 JST] 00000021 servlet E
    com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.servlet.ServletWrapper
    run [Servlet Error]-[class java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
    com.ibm.websphere.rpcadapter.RPCAdapter]:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: class
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
    com.ibm.websphere.rpcadapter.RPCAdapter

This error only happens on standalone versions of WebSphere
Application Server. It will not occur on a WebSphere Application
    Server test environment.

Workaround: Install both versions of the Web20 feature pack
(1.1.0 and 1.0.1.1) or put all of the below JARs in WEB-INF/lib

    ?WAS70_install_path?/web2mobilefep_1.1/optionalLibraries/RPCAd
    apter/commons-logging-1.0.4.jar

    ?WAS70_install_path?/web2mobilefep_1.1/optionalLibraries/RPCAdap
    ter/retroweaver-rt-2.0.jar

    ?WAS70_install_path?/web2mobilefep_1.1/optionalLibraries/RPCAdap
    ter/RPCAdapter.jar

    ?WAS70_install_path?/web2mobilefep_1.1/optionalLibraries/JSON4J/
    JSON4J.jar

    ****************************************************************
If a Dynamic Web Project with the Server Side Technology
Facet is published to a WebSphere Application Server version
6.1 or 7.0 that only has the Web 2.0 Feature Pack version
1.0.x.x or only has Web 2.0 Feature Pack version 1.1.0 then
    a publishing failure will occurs.

Problem conclusion

  • Server Side Technology has 1 facet, however it is associated
with 2 WebSphere Web 2.0 Feature Packs. Since both feature
packs are associated with the facet the validation framework
requires both. The framework requires ALL feature packs for
a given project. It essentially does an AND operation.
However, with v1.1.0 of the Feature Pack, co-existence of
both versions is permitted, so an "OR" operation is needed.
The code was changed to allow the operation to be treated as
    an OR.

The fix for this APAR is included in Rational Application
    Developer v8.0.4.
