PM41273: REPORT ERROR AFTER UPGRADE FROM COGNOS 8.3 FP2 TO COGNOS 8.3 FP5

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The client has upgraded from Cognos 8.3 FP2 to Cognos 8.3 FP5.
    When they were in Cognos 8.3 FP2, everything worked fine.
    However after upgrade, they are having problem to run reports,
    which has the following conditions??1, having Chinese characters
    in the folder name or the report name??2, having prompt
    parameters in the report????Error message: request failed.
    Contact administrator.????What has been tried / tested and the
    test result:????-The problem happened to all reports, which has
    the above conditions. ??-The problem occurs on the existing
    reports only (upgrade from Cognos 8.3 or Cognos 8.3 FP2).
    ??-Client does not have problem on newly created reports from
    Cognos 8.3 FP5. ??-The problem only happens when the report is
    run via Cognos portal. It works fine if runs from Report
    Studio.??-Client has tried to upgrade from Cognos 8.3 to Cognos
    8.3 FP5, the problem still happens??-Client has tried to use the
    Cognos 8.3 deployment on Cognos 8.3 FP5, they still face the
    same problem.??-If keep the folder/report name as Chinese and
    delete the prompt, the report works??-If change the
    folder/report name to English, the report works even it have
    prompts.??-In Cognos 8.3 environment, changed the environment to
    English and upgrade to Cognos 8.3 FP5. After upgrade, the
    English environment works. However, if changes the environment
    to Chinese from Cognos personal preference, the same problem
    occurred.????????
