PM35592: UNABLE TO SELECT WORKFLOW FOR SHORT TEXT COMPONENT AFTER CF43 (PM28202)

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Customer's who install CF43 or APAR PM28202 AND have workflow
enabled on components will be unable to select a workflow for
short text components.  This defect only affects short text
components and is only seen when CF43 is installed and workflow
is enabled on components.

The issue is caused by the validation of the item when the item
is validated (added by PM28202) the parent is also validated.
When workflow is not enabled this is not an issue but when
workflows are enabled the workflow not enabled message is
reported instead of allowing the user to select a workflow.

Local fix

  • Install fix when available, use text component, none.

Detailed Problem Description:

Problem conclusion

  • Problem Analysis:
The issue is caused by the validation of the item when the item
is validated (added by PM28202) the parent is also validated.
When workflow is not enabled this is not an issue but when
workflows are enabled the workflow not enabled message is
reported instead of allowing the user to select a workflow.

Problem Solution:
Code has been updated to only validate the field and not the
parent.

Affected Users:
All users who use workflow with components.
