Error description

  • In Cognos 10 there are now five settings for various services
    for "Maximum size of an uncompressed email attachment in MB".
    The services in question are brs, rs, agent, delivery and
    powerplay. ????Looking for some information on how these
    settings are intended to work. Not much documentation on this
    (also see COGCQ00275947). In Cognos 8, it was just available on
    the delivery service and the purpose was clear. ????Results of a
    few tests with a large report (pdf comes to over 4mb):????If I
    set the BatchReportService to 0 and the Delivery Service to 3 it
    zips up the attachment ????properly (Batch Report)
               ??If I set the BatchReportService to 3 and the
    Delivery Service to 0 I get a 0 byte PDF                ????If I
    set the BatchReportService to 3 and the Delivery Service to 3 I
    get a 0 byte PDF????(zero means compression is disabled).??
                                                        ??Based on
    this, I would think that getting a 0 byte PDF is incorrect
    regardless of anything else (either compress or don't compress,
    don't send a 0 byte attachment). But, would like to understand
    what the intent here is and how you are supposed to configure
    these settings, how they are related, if any setting supersedes
    any other etc.
