  stereotypes may be lost in the merged content.

  The profile application was deleted by the open source UML
  because it cannot find the profile import in the current
  resource and though it was a dangling bad stereotype
  application. This logic is correct in the context of full
  logical model editing. But for fragment merging where we can
  load a partial model (a single fragment) in our merge
  session.
  

Problem conclusion

• Stereotypes are no longer lost when merging elements in
  fragmented models.
