Error description

  • Description:

When using the UML 2.2 export wizard in Rational Software
Architect 8.0 to export an EMX Model,
not all related Profiles are exported.

    To reproduce:
    1) Create a Profile (EPX) that has Profile(s) applied to it
    2) Create a Model (EMX) that has above Profile as well as a few
    others applied to it
    3) Right-click on above model and select Export
    4) Choose Modeling-?UML 2.2 Model and click Next
    5) Select an output folder, and check the 'Recreate Ids' and
    'Export applied profiles' boxes
    6) Click Finish

This will result in maximum five .uml-files being created, no
matter how many Profiles were applied to the Model. These files
do not necessarily contain the actual Model, but if it is there,
opening it in a UML Editor and browsing around will most likely
result in an error, because not all needed Profiles are
available. If you run the Export a few more times it is possible
to get more of the required Profiles/Models will be generated.

Due to a defect in Eclipse, the UML 2.2 Export does not
correctly if it has to generate more than five resources.

Problem conclusion

  • The UML Export now works correctly.
