Error description
When double byte characters are used in a JSP a validation error is reported in the file. After editing the JSP file the validation error is removed; However, it reappears when the JSP is closed and re-opened.

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When double byte characters are added to the JSP scriptlet and the file is saved there are validation errors which disappear after editing the scriptlet; However, the validation errors re-appear after file is closed and reopened. This is due to improper serialization of the double byte characters.
Problem conclusion
The method of serialization of translated JSP files has been altered to take care of double byte characters. The fix for this APAR is included in Rational Application Developer version 8.0.2.
