PM28353: Incorrect Delta DDL generated when the modification includes a Primary Key

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If on comparison of two objects, there is a difference on a
  primary Key that needs to be modified, then the generated Delta
  DDL is faulty.
  
  Steps to Reproduce:
  - Create new Data Design Project
  - Add new Physical Data Model targeted for Oracle 10 (name =
  First)
  - Add a table to the schema (Table1)
  - Add a column to the table (name=id, datatype=VARCHAR2,
  length=2) and make it the primary key.
  - Copy the whole Physical Data Model in a new model (name =
  Second)
  - Change Second/Table1/id/length into 10 and save
  - Select both models and Right Click ? Compare With ? Each Other
  - Select id field and copy difference from right to left
  - Generate Delta DDL for the change.

  The error occurred because the column being assigned NOT
  NULL was not checked if it was already NOT NULL, thus when
  the product tried to add a NOT NULL to a column which
  already has the property, then on executing the DDL the
  problem surfaces and does not execute.
  

Problem conclusion

• The Fix involved adding the check for NOT NULL while
  generating the DDL.
  
  This problem is fixed in Rational Software Architect
  7.5.5.4.
