The problem was reported for Rational Application Developer
(RAD) 7.5.2 - ?Extract Data functionality not working for
Sybase Database in Rational Application Developer?

Root Cause of the Problem: The problem occurs because the
Product tries to call the methods getDatabaseMajorVersion()
and getDatabaseMinorVersion() both of which were not
supported in the older JDBC Drivers of Sybase (jconn2.jar),
but their latest driver (jconn3.jar) addresses these
    methods.

Problem conclusion

  • In connection profiles for Sybase 12.0, 12.5 and 12.x we
provide for the use of the older driver which resulted in
the problem. We now use the classname to connect as
    "com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver". The Sybase 15.0 already
uses the jconn3 profile which is
"com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybDriver" and hence no issue with
    it. Hence this is upgraded.

This issue is fixed in Rational Application Developer
    7.5.5.3
