Error description

  • a user has suggested that we mention that after baselining, ACLs
will be preserved in the baseline and cannot be changed. The us
    e case is as follows:

The scenario is where a module which has specific ACLs on certai
n data. A user joins the project but has no access to the data i
n the baseline and there is no way to modify the baseline ACLs s
o the end result is that this data is not viewable by this user.

We can add, perhaps as a NOTE in the ACLs or baseline section of
the manual, that we recommend using ACLs based on groups rather
than individual users. This way a user can be added to a group
which has access to the data, resolving the problem.

Problem conclusion

  • The following has been added to the topic entitled Rational
    DOORS groups:

... This is especially useful when you use the Rational
DOORS baselining functionality. When you baseline a module,
the access permissions to the baseline are frozen, and the
only way new employees can access the baseline is if they
    are members of a group.
