Error description

  • When enabling work area maintenance for a large hierarchy with m
ultiple subprojects, many of the subproject work areas are writt
en to the top-level absolute location. These are not written to
their correct relative location, and some are not written at al
    l.

Analysis reveals that this occurs when the hierarchy contains on
e or more sets of subprojects that share the same name, but diff
er in version and/or instance AND the 'Include project-specific
directory in work area path' option is NOT selected. Messages i
n the message view look like this:

Setting path for work area of '?4-part project name?' to
     'C:/MyDir'...
The work area for '?4-part project name?' will be mainta
    ined automatically.
            Synchronizing ...
Warning: Work area path is not for this project, indicat
es obsolete work area for project
            Serious: Errors occurred during synchronization
            Synchronization summary:
             0 Update(s) for project ?4-part project name?
             0 Conflict(s) for project ?4-part project name?
Warning: Errors occurred during synchronization. Check y
    our logs.
Saved work area options for project: '?4-part project na
    me?'

One workaround is to ensure that the 'Include project-specific d
irectory in work area path' option is selected.

This is a regression from the way that traditional mode performs
. Using traditional mode the hierarchy gets written correctly an
    d is thus another workaround.
