PM18364: ALLOW JCL GENERATION USING PROC VARIABLES OR OVERWRITING THE PARM CARD IN RATIONAL DEVELOPER FOR SYSTEM Z

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Rational Developer for System z is generating JCL that causes a
  JCL error because a line is longer than 72 columns.
  
  When the compiler options are specified in a property group for
  PLI for example:
  LIST,MACRO,XREF,SOURCE,MAP,PP(SQL),OPTIONS,OR(|),NOCOMPILE,NOTES
  
  The generated JCL card looks like this:
  COMP=',''LIST,MACRO,XREF,SOURCE,MAP,PP(SQL),OPTIONS,OR(|),
  NOCOMPILE,NOTEST'''
  
  
  
  This card extends past column 72 and causes a JCL error.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Alow the user to either overwrite the entire PARM card in the
  generated JCL, or allow the user to append to the parm card
  provided in the JCL Procedure.
  Users of 7.6.1 received JCL Errors when their compile options
  ran past column 72.  They need a method to go back to the
  old behavior of overwriting the entire PARM card in the
  generated JCL.
  

Problem conclusion

• JCL Generation was changed as well as a new UI widget added in
  the properties group to provide a way to make a choice as to
  how the PARMS for the compile will be generated.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for System z V7.6.2.1 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
