PM18159: WCI: CONTENT WITHOUT VALID WORKFLOW CAUSES FEED TO STOP CONSUMIN G WITHOUT INDICATING AN ERROR

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a content item refers to an invalid workflow the feed stops
consuming, and the feed state remains "consuming". This was
caused by an invalid exception handler which also prevented the
correct logging of the error. All save errors are now clearly
logged, and the feed portlet will display the correct state
    "Error in feed".

Problem summary

  • If a content item refers to an invalid workflow the feed stops
consuming, and the feed state remains "consuming". This was
caused by an invalid exception handler which also prevented the
correct logging of the error. All save errors are now clearly
logged, and the feed portlet will display the correct state
    "Error in feed".

Problem conclusion

  • The exception handling in the WCI around saves was incorrect.
Numerous errors caused the feed to stop consuming and not update
the UI state. This has been corrected, if a save fails then the
item itself if flagged as failing, feed processing then
continues. The item is later reprocessed, if this same item
fails to save during reprocessing the item remains in a failed
state resulting in the feed showing an error status in the
    UIwhen feed consumnption completes.

Temporary fix
