APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Customer has job that was created on the host that contains
EBCDIC characters x'00'-x'31' that are defined as data in a
COBOL program. When this job is copied to a zOS project the
characters are still valid. However, once the job is submitted
via RDz though, the characters are changed to x'40', which is an
    EBCDIC space.

Local fix

  • The root cause of this problem is the x'00' character.
If the x'00' character is removed then the job can be
successfully submitted via the Rational Developer for
    System z workspace.

in the JCL, the characters on the line following the null byte
are truncated from the submitted JCL.

Problem conclusion

  • Program error corrected. A null byte will now be included in
    the submitted JCL.
