PM17070: Error received with trying to Synchronize with Remote

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When using Rational Developer for System z 7.6.1 user attempts
  to perform a Synchronize with Remote an internal error is
  issued.  The .log shows the following error:

  !MESSAGE content type 'com.ibm.ftt.ui.mvsFilesCompare' not found
  
  The scenario used
  
  1) Create a local COBOL Project.
  
  2) Create corresponding dataset on remote server.
  
  3) Mapping local COBOL source code to remote by double click .
  .RemoteMapping file in local project
  
  4) Synchronize with Remote
  
  5) Confirm to open Team Synchronizing perspective
  
  6) Open COBOL code in compare editor.
  
  7) An internal error shows in compare editor.
  
  8) Click the 'Compare as Text', the source file on server shows
  all  blank (which actually with content)
  
  
  Synchronization fails when the Language is Japanese. The problem
   also occurs with RDz 7.6.0.1
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• The problem is that in when we compare files, we use an
  identifier that is derived from the timestamp of the file.
  Currently, that timestamp is of the form "Nov 24, 2009 2:30:02
  PM" on an English machine and "2009/11/24 14:30:02" on a
  Japanese machine.  The "/" is an illegal character which causes
  the error.
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix uses Date.getTime() which returns the number of
  milliseconds since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 GMT which is safe
  in all code pages.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for System z V7.6.2.1 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
