PM16742: BACKSLASHES ENTERED IN THE EXTERNAL URL CAUSE RICH TEXT CONTENT TO DISAPPER

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • 1. Create a rich text component.
    2. Click on "insert link" button.
    3. In the url field enter \aaa\bbb
    4. Do not enter anything in the link text field.
    5. Click ok.
    6. Save and close the component
    7. Open it again.
    8. Nothing will be seen in the rich text field.

The url entered is copied over to the "Link Text" field. The
backslashes cause few characters to be interpreted as control
sequences resulting in the XML parser to throw an exception.

Problem summary

  • Users Affected: All ILWCM users

    Problem Description:

    1. Create a rich text component.
    2. Click on "insert link" button.
    3. In the url field enter \aaa\bbb
    4. Do not enter anything in the link text field.
    5. Click ok.
    6. Save and close the component
    7. Open it again.
    8. Nothing will be seen in the rich text field.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been modified to escape backslash characters if the
user had not entered any link text and they had entered an
external url. This will prevent any control characters from
being populated in the rich text and hence causing exceptions
    later.
