PM16485: EXPORTING TO EXCEL 2007 TAKES LONGER TIME AND CONSUMES LOTS OF MEMORY

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Exporting Report Studio list report to Excel 2007 consumes lots
  of memory and time.  The report is running against SQL object
  and conditional variables for rendering. Removing these
  variables didn't help reducing the memory.  Tested with
  following scenario: - A list report with 30 columns, rownum <
  100K a) PDF: took 20 minutes (BiBus process memory goes up to
  400MB) b) Excel 2007: took almost 2 hours (BiBus process memory
  goes up to 1.2GB)  Changing rows per page (e.g. 25000) helped
  reducing memory. However, this is not acceptable to customer as
  business users still need 65,536 rows on the first page.
  System Environment: - Cognos 8.4 Fix Pack 2 - Windows  - Oracle
  10g (Reporting DB)  Note: Due to complexity, this APAR has been
  targeted to the next major release as the change is architecture
  in nature.
