Error description

• Rational Business Developer V7.5.1.5:
  
  Numeric edits are not removed when the type for a variable field
  is changed from numeric to non-numeric.
  
  The following messages are found in the Problems view after the
  form is saved:
  
    IWN.VAL.3194.e 4/32 Property CurrencySymbol must be defined
                        with a numeric primitive.  The type of
                        this item is char.
  
    IWN.VAL.5342.e 4/3 Property:  fieldLen.  The value for this
                        property for field VariableFormField1 is
                        invalid.  For char and mbchar types, the
                        value must match the primitive length.
                        For dbchar, it must match the bytes.  It
                        must be an integer that is the number of
                        bytes needed to display the largest number
                        in the type declaration with all
                        formatting characters.
  
    IWN.VAL.3194.e 4/105 Property NumericSeparator must be defined
                         with a numeric primitive.  The type of
                         this item is char.
  
    IWN.VAL.3194.e 4/89 Property Sign must be defined with a
                        numeric primitive.  The type of this item
                        is char.
  
    IWN.VAL.3194.e 4/71 Property ZeroFormat must be defined with a
                        numeric primitive.  The type of this item
                        is char.
  
    IWN.VAL.3194.e 4/55 Property Currency must be defined with a
                        numeric primitive.  The type of this item
                        is char.
  
  VisualAge Generator removes these edits when a field is changed
  from numeric to non-numeric.

Problem conclusion

• The developer investigated and found that the change of
  field type was not "informing" the EGL Form Editor source
  code of the type change, and therefore the properties for a
  non-numeric field were not being refreshed in the Properties
  / Attributes view.
  
  Change made to source to inform of type change, with the
  result that properties are now updated. Eg: Properties for
  non-numeric type now show in view.
