Error description

  • When using Rational Lifecycle Platform with ClearCase (RLPwCC) F
lex/LM license keys, duplicate license usage may occur if:
    1) Windows domain user ID's contain mixed case (eg., JoeUser).
    2) ClearCase and RequisitePro are simultaneously accessed.

ClearCase, in version 7.1.0.2 and 7.1.1.0, unconditionally downc
ases OS user names before checking out Flex/LM licenses. This is
done to prevent duplicate license usage in ClearCase Interop en
    vironments.

    ****************************************************************
When Rational RequisitePro is used as part of the IBM
Rational Lifecycle Package with ClearCase, each user should
only consume one license when using all products in the
package. However, Windows does not support case-sensitive
user validation, so when various uppercase and lowercase
combinations are used for the same user name, multiple
licenses are consumed instead of only one.

Problem conclusion

  • The user authentication has been modified so that various
uppercase and lowercase combinations are normalized as all
lowercase during user validation, so that the various
versions of the user name are recognized as a single user
and only one license is consumed.
