PM11542: CPS-SRV-3500 ERROR WHEN TRYING TO ACCESS WSDL PORTLETS

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Multi-server Cognos 8.4 FP2 environment (1 cm, 2 app servers).
    The presentation service was disabled on one of the app servers
    after installation. Cognos portlets are used within Websphere
    Portal Services (WPS).
    
    When using the following cps.wsdl URL:
    
    http://hostname/cognos8/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi/wsrp/cps4/portlets/na
    v?wsdl&b_action=cps.wsdl
    
    the presentation service is not being load-balanced and the
    following error is received:
    
    Unable to process the request.
    
    CPS-SRV-3500 Unable to read the WSDL from the target server
    "http://localhost/cognos8/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi/wsrp/cps4/portlets/
    nav?wsdl&b_action=cps.wsdl".
    WSDLException: faultCode=PARSER_ERROR: Problem parsing'-WSDL
    Document-': The entity name must immediately follow the '&' in
    the entity reference. A more detailed description of the error
    that occurred can be found in the log.
    
    Screenshot of this error is attached.
    
    Workarounds suggested by Michael McGreein and Rami Nassif
    include the following:
    
    Using the nav.wsdl URL
    (http://hostname/cognos8/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi/wsrp/cps4/portlets/n
    av?wsdl&b_action=nav.wsdl)
    seems to work as a workaround. Screenshot is attached.
