Error description

  • DOORS 9.2.0.2 doesn't retain values for attributes of Type 'User
name' when configured with RDS 5.1

    Sample steps to reproduce:
    ---------------------------------
1.? Configure a DOORS 9.2.0.2 Database with RDS 5.1 using any su
pported LDAP as the Corporate LDAP.
2.? Create a new Module in DOORS and create a new attribute of t
    ype 'Username'
3.? Select any Object in the Module - right click Properties - A
ttributes - select the newly created attribute (which is of Type
    : Username)
4.? Enter any valid username as the value for this attribute. Th
e error message 'The value you have entered is invalid. You shou
ld be entering a Username' is displayed.
5.? Exit out of the error message - Click on Manage Users ? Grou
ps - enter '*' wildcard and hit Refresh. All the users are displ
    ayed. Close the window.
6.? Redo steps 1 to 4 and now it takes the value correctly. Howe
ver, if we then exit the session of DOORS and relogin, the value
for the Attribute has been lost.

    Workaround:
    ----------------
-- Modify the shortcut that users use to launch DOORS to include
     -dxl
command-line switch with the value 'updateUserList()'.

To do this, follow the steps below:

1.? Right click on the DOORS Icon.

    2.? Go to Properties

3.? Under the 'Shortcut' tab, modify the value of 'Target' fiel
    d by
    appending { -dxl 'updateUserList'}

    (without the enclosing flower brackets).

With the default installation location, the value of Target shou
    ld
    appear as follows:

    'C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.2\bin\doors.exe' -dxl

    'updateUserList'

If you have RDS enabled, and define an attribute of type
username, two problems will be apparent

     - attempting to set a username value will fail with a
message that the username is invalid
     - once a username has been set, once you logout and back-in
the value will appear to have vanished

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been changed so that the failures do not occur
