    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The CICS Dump Formatter Utility DFHPD650 encountered a program
    check while processing the PI domain. This led to an abend S978
    when running with DEF=1. The problem was caused because
    there was no PIH control block in the dump, so a pointer
    of zeros was used to address it. When DFHPIDUF attempted to
    format the pipeline control blocks off the non-existent
    PIH, it encountered inaccessible storage and program checked.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPIDUF has been amended such that if it receives a null
    address for the pih_ptr, it will not attempt to use that
    pointer. Any sections of the formatted dump that depend on
    that pointer will be skipped. The user is alerted to the
    problem by the existing message:
    DFHPD0112I Address of PIH is zero.
