APAR status

  • Closed as documentation error.

Error description

  • java on zOS includes references to nonExistant fonts. In
    /J5.0/lib/fonts/fonts.dir file  ,   the TimesNewRoman and
    SansMonoWT fonts are listed .
    But,the fonts directory does not contain the fonts.
    
    This APAR describes how to install these fonts.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Two font file entries exist in the Java on z/OS sdk file
    $JRE/lib/fontconfig.properties.src, but the corresponding
    fonts do not exist in the fonts directory:

    sx0208.1983-0=$JRE_LIB_FONTS/mtsansdj.ttf
    
    Should customers have a need for these fonts on zOS, they may
    purchase one of the following:
    
    Infoprint WorldType Fonts for AFP Clients or Infoprint World
    Type Fonts for AFP Servers as part of program 5648-E77
    
    -  Function EA970000  0014 _ World Trade AFP Clients
    -  Function 1A970000  0013 _ World Trade AFP Servers
    
    Once the product is obtained,
    copy mtsdj__b.ttf  from the BITMAPS directory of CD Monotype
    Sans Duospace WorldType and tnr_j__b.ttf from BITMAPS directory
    of CD Times New Roman WorldType  to their workstation.
    
    Transfer the two files from the workstation to System z
    Rename mtsdj__b.ttf to and to mtsansdf.ttf
    Rename tnr_j__b.ttf  to tnrwt_j.ttf .
    Place them in the desired fonts directory .
    Delete the font files from the workstation.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    5.0.0 SR12
    .
    The fonts can also be installed as described
