Error description

  • Client is looking to have the severity levels of log reflect the
    true serverity of the situation, which the current logs do not.

    In Trasformer 8.4 when we build a cube and deploy (i.e. copy and
    activate) it, the log file produced seems to have incorrect
    error
    levels. According to the rules, the error levels 1,2,3,4 in
    transformer
    log file are defined as
    
    1 severe errors
    2 error message
    3 warning messages
    4 informational messages
    
    Looking at the attached excerpts from a transformer log file,
    you can
    see that till the cube is built, the log levels are as expected.
    But
    when the cube starts getting deployed, the log levels look
    incorrect.
    Creating deployment directory, copying MDC to the final
    destination etc
    are logged with a log level of 2. These steps should actually
    have a
    log level of 4 because they are informational messages.
    
    Our aim here is to write a script that checks for errors and
    sends
    message to cognos admin. If log levels are designated wrongly,
    this
    checking wont work fine. So if there could be a way to change
    the log
    level for copying and activating messages from 2 to 4, it would
    be
    better.

Problem conclusion

  • Output the comments issued by Cube deployment and Cognos package
     importation as info messages (severity 4)
    
    Fixed in Transformer 8.5.128.0 or later.
