APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • JSP syntax validator requires {} brackets after Java 'if' statem
ent, even though it is possible in Java syntax to omit this. The
below error is displayed in the source editor and Problems tab.
Turning off the JSP syntax validator will make the error disapp
    ear from Problems tab.

Syntax error on token ')'. Statement expected after this token

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Having an if-statement without braces will cause the
translated Java to include some other generated region of
code as part of the if().

Problem conclusion

  • After translating a scriptlet, we now implicitly supply a
"markup placeholder". This will allow an unclosed statement
to have content without throwing off the remainder of the
    translation.
